Rosewood Abu Dhabi’s signature restaurant Catalan takes first orders
Abu Dhabi’s first Catalonian restaurant to offer unique gourmet experiences in a magnificent setting
Abu Dhabi, May 22, 2013 – Catalan, Abu Dhabi’s first Catalonian restaurant has opened its Gaudi style shaped wooden doors in the new ultra-luxury hotel Rosewood Abu Dhabi located in Sowwah Square on Al Maryah Island. Creating the perfect blend of classical and modern, the restaurant offers a unique selection of dishes crafted using the best ingredients imported from Catalonia’s tranquil mountains and deep seas, combined with the freshest local produce.
With opulent white and gold décor and fine garden views from its floor-to-ceiling windows, Catalan transports guests from modern-day Arabia to the old-style comfort and charm of a luxurious European salon in early 1900s Barcelona. Its exquisite selection of vibrant, authentic dishes brings the colour, traditions and warmth of Catalonia to the Capital. To complement the refined menu, a beverage menu consisting solely of specially selected labels from Spain has been created by the restaurant Manager Jordi Vicente.
Heading the Catalan kitchen is Chef Antonio Saez, who brings with him over 10 years of experience at some of the best restaurants in Spain. Chef Antonio, who has recently relocated to Abu Dhabi from Barcelona, obtained two Michelin stars in 2009 while working at the Lasarte restaurant in Barcelona, making him the youngest two Michelin-starred Chef in Spain at the time.
“Catalan merges the traditional and contemporary to create a unique gourmet experience for even the most sophisticated palate. With the freshest local ingredients and finest traditional produce from Catalonia flown in especially for the restaurant, a carefully crafted menu and a unique beverage list from Spain, we hope to offer our guests impeccable service and outstanding cuisine in a relaxing ambience,” says Antonio Saez, Catalan’s Head Chef.
