ROTANA CEO MAKES BIG SPLASH AT BEACH ROTANA CHARITY EVENT
Over AED230,000 raised for two UAE charities
Abu Dhabi, November 4, 2015- Beach Rotana proudly announces the results of its 15th Annual charity fundraiser, Make A Difference Day, which raised an amount of AED 230,000 forboth The Grace Conservation- Emirates Red Crescent, and the Make A Wish UAE foundation. The event was held on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at the Beach Rotana Hotel.
This year’s edition of the Make A Difference Day was a half day “fun fair fiesta” for children, featuring an arcade full of kids activities and games, a live ice carving demonstration, an inflatable kids plays area, and the “waterzone”, featuring water balloon fun and the very popular dunking pool. Children also enjoyed activities such as the Sweetzone, Prego’s Pizza Factory, and a visit from Yas WaterWorld’s main character, Dana.
Over 600 children crafted, created and played their way across the Beach Rotana courtyard and beach areas, with the day’s festivities culminating in a live auction to dunk two Rotana executives: Rotana President & CEO Omer Kaddouri and hotel General Manager Mathieu van Alphen. The crowd was very enthusiastic, and crowds roared with delight as they were plunged into the pool to help raise funds this year.
Make A Difference Day launched at the Beach Rotana in 2000 and it was the initiative of then hotel General Manager Omer Kaddouri, who came back to commemorate the event’s milestone year.
Over the years, the annual event has benefitted numerous local charities here in Abu Dhabi, resulting in over a million dirhams funding these charities’ community efforts.
In 2015, the event was supported by the Al Forsan International Sports Resort, KLM/Air France airlines, TransCo, EuropCar, Abu Dhabi Mall and many friends of the Beach Rotana. Over 3500 tickets were sold for the event, all directly benefiting the charities. The event is held annually in October at the Beach Rotana Abu Dhabi.
