Royal Caribbean Cruises ltd. honours Middle East travel trade
Guest bookings in the Middle East rise by more than 30 percent
Dubai. 1st May 2012: Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. presented awards yesterday to 15 senior travel industry partners from the Middle East at a special ceremony held at the Shangri-La Hotel, Dubai. The event was attended by travel trade, media and VIPs.
This year’s award scheme saw the launch of the “WOW Performer” Awards which were given to travel agents whose performance in 2011 had a ‘WOW’ factor.

Guest volume, gross sales, year on year growth percentage, the consistent support over many years, knowledge and understanding of the product and the use of booking system were among the criteria for the much sought after awards.

Bookings in the Middle East for RCCL’s three global brands - Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises and Azamara Club Cruises - increased significantly in 2011 with guest volume rising by over 30 percent compared to the previous year.”
As in previous years, Europe was the most popular cruise destination for travelers from the Middle East. According to Royal Caribbean Cruises, approximately 75 percent of all bookings from the region were made for European cruises. The second most popular destination for cruise travelers from the Middle East was the Caribbean.
“Cruise vacations are the fastest growing segment of the travel industry. In 2010 nearly 15 million guests worldwide went on a cruise and stayed an average length of 7.2 days. By the end of 2011 the cruise market reached nearly 20 million annual passengers worldwide,” added Helen Beck, Regional Director for Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises and Azamara Club Cruises International Representatives - Europe, Middle East, Africa.
“In the Middle East, Brilliance of the Seas’ third and longest season ended in April and again was very successful with nearly all sailings fully booked. The support from our many partners around the Gulf contributed greatly to our successful 2011 and 2012 seasons. The Brilliance of the Seas recognition awards show our appreciation to those who put extraordinary effort into making sure that we have smooth sailings for our guests,” Beck concluded.
