[Dubai, 22nd September 2016] Slovenia’s Minister of Economic Development and Technology, His Excellency Zdravko Počivalšek, successfully concluded Slovenia’s first trade mission to the United Arab Emirates by officially presenting His Excellency Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansouri, UAE Minister of Economy with a Letter of Intent on behalf of the Republic of Slovenia to attend Expo 2020 Dubai. The letter was presented today, September 22nd, 2016 at the Dubai Chamber of Commerce following the successful conclusion of a UAE-Slovenia Seminar held at the Dubai Chamber of Commerce, that included special presentations and keynote speeches highlighting the growing trade relationship and trade opportunities between the two countries.

The UAE-Slovenia Seminar was attended by over 140 government and business community leaders from across the UAE and included a Slovenian trade development delegation of over 80 industry and government leaders, representing almost 50 companies across 6 economic sectors, including Agriculture and Food Processing, Electro Industries, Information and Communication Technologies, Interior Design, Engineering and Tourism. Following the seminar UAE business leaders met with their Slovenian counterparts for private discussions. Tourism development was the largest sector within the Slovenian delegation with 24 companies represented, and a special workshop for over 75 UAE outbound tourism specialists was also organised to increase the tourism offerings for UAE residents to conveniently visit Slovenia for both business and leisure.

Our Expo 2020 participation will be based on an already well-established and growing government and commercial relationship with the UAE, and will create a positive impact on the UAE and Slovenian economies that extends well beyond 2020.
