SUBWAYÒ Restaurant Chain Honours Kuwaiti Businessman for Commercial Excellence
Abdul Rahman Almutairi Awarded ‘Development Agent of the Year’ and ‘Multi-Unit Franchisee of the Year’ Titles from among 4,000 Franchisees Worldwide
Kuwait City-Kuwait: 13 September, 2011 – The SUBWAYÒ restaurant chain, the world's largest restaurant brand in terms of the number of worldwide locations, named Abdul Rahman Almutairi from Sharq, Kuwait, the ‘Development Agent of the Year’ and the ‘Multi-Unit Franchisee of the Year’, from among the chain’s more than 4,000 franchisees around the world.
The award ceremony took place at a convention in San Francisco, US.
Almutairi was recognised as Development Agent of the Year for his unmatched accomplishment in developing the SUBWAYÒ brand within his territory, as well as for communicating within and complying with the SUBWAYÒ franchise system.
Almutairi was also named the SUBWAYÒ Franchisee of the Year for the extensive sales network he has built, resulting in increased profitability while also achieving excellent store evaluations.
Born and raised in Kuwait, Almutairi first discovered the SUBWAYÒ brand while attending the University of Texas to become a regular customer. Upon returning home and looking to set up his business, he played a key role in bringing the SUBWAYÒ concept back to Kuwait in 2001, after a short absence.
Upon receiving his award, Almutairi said: “This is a huge accomplishment for me. It means a lot and recognizes the hard work and our professionalism displayed over the years in dealing with customers, employees and colleagues.
“As a long-time customer who immensely enjoyed its offerings, I chose to open a Subway® restaurant in Kuwait. I believed in the brand and was confident of its success.”
Abdul Rahman Almutairi currently owns and operates 47 SUBWAYÒ restaurants across Kuwait. His restaurants provide jobs for about 600 people besides being continuously engaged in community and charitable activities.
Almutairi’s future plans include opening 10 new SUBWAYÒ restaurants by the end of the year and establishing an additional 50 locations within the next five years.
