TASTE OF DUBAI ANNOUNCES RECORD-BREAKING FIGURES
- Fine-dining restaurants, Michelin starred chefs and world-class entertainment attract a record-breaking 27,037 visitors to Dubai Food Festival’s signature closing event
14 March, 2016. Dubai, UAE: Taste of Dubai, the city’s favourite food, drink and music event welcomed a record-breaking 27,037 visitors, who enjoyed a mouth-watering line-up of celebrity chefs, fine-dining restaurants and entertainment at Dubai Food Festival’s signature closing event.
Basked in glorious sunshine, the three day event served up an outstanding line-up of internationally renowned and Michelin starred chefs, who demonstrated their culinary expertise at the Electrolux Chef’s Theatre, American Garden and Lurpak Cooking Challenge and Electrolux Chef’s Secrets.
Boasting a collection of eight Michelin stars between them, the chefs included Atul Kochhar, Alfred Prasad, Nathan Outlaw, Tom Aikens, Tim Anderson, Paolo Pettenuzzo and Celbrity chefs Jenny Morris, Reza Mahammad,and Jun Tanaka.
“Every year, the challenge is to come up with something bigger and better than the year before and the record attendance we saw this year is a testament to how we continually strive to improve our offering and features, said Chris Fountain, Managing Director of events organiser Turret Media. “Securing so many Michelin starred and internationally renowned chefs at one event was a real coup. We truly believed that there was something for everyone at this year’s Taste of Dubai and we are pleased that our visitors reacted so positively. It was the perfect build-up to the event’s ten year anniversary in 2017.”
The weekend also saw visitors enjoy a tantalizing taste of the most popular dishes from 19 exclusive fine-dining restaurants in Dubai, including seven new eateries: Bread Street Kitchen, Catch, Vesna, Atisuto, Muchachas, Fratelli La Bufala and Bistro Des Arts. Returning favourites included: Gaucho, Nobu, Sonamu, The Gramercy, Tresind and Royal Orchid.
Live entertainment ran throughout the weekend with disco legends Boney M headlining the event’s busiest ever opening night, followed by local acts such as 4THEMUSIC, Adam Baluch and The Maplejacks.
“This was the perfect weekend!” said Ben Bond, who attended the event with his family. “The sun was shining, the entertainment was fab and the wide selection of food on offer was incredible. There were a lot of restaurants I had never been to before, so it was great to have a little taste of what they offer. I’ll definitely be coming back next year,” he added.
Taste of Dubai came to a close at Dubai Media City Amphitheatre yesterday, providing the perfect ending to Dubai Food Festival’s 17-day citywide celebration of food.
