The Malaysia Gourmet Festival 2010 has gone into its final stage and it’s time for the judges to make their decision. On the 25th of October, Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur’s Villa Danieli was host to the Dine Around Dinner, which served as a platform to be judged by the MIGF adjudicators as well as to engage very elite guests to wine and dine on this special occasion.

The eventful evening began at 7.30pm with a variety of delicious cocktails, champagne and canapés. All the guests were in an amicable mood and looking forward to a memorable evening by trying out Villa Danieli’s special dishes prepared by our magical Chef Kamaruddin a.k.a Chef Bob.
The opening speech was given by Dato’ Steve Day who is the main organizer of the Malaysia International Gourmet Festival. He gave a beautiful speech and thanked all the influential guests that came for this event. Dato’ Steve Day then handed over the spotlight to the hotel’s General Manager, Mr. Wolfgang Boettcher who introduced Chef Bob and his team as well as Raja Adli, Restaurant Manager, for making this event happen. Mr. Chuck Abbott, the Regional Vice President for Starwood in South East Asia also gave a brief welcome to all the guests and judges.

Dinner was an exploration of all things Italia, specially crafted by the jovial Chef Bob. The magnificent culinary journey started with Mille feuille of purple potato, tiger prawns, slipper lobster and tarragon mantecato. Second course came in the form of Seafood soup” caciucco” style, spicy blue crab broth and fresh buffalo mozzarella, whilst the Pasta course was Gnocchi with white wine braised onion, venison ragout and light taleggio cream. For the main, there was a choice between Sea salt crusted beef tenderloin with crunchy polenta and white asparagus compote with grain mustard beef jus, or Pan fried wild sea bass medallion on capsicum “panzanella”, topinambur cream and anchovy oil, and to end this marvellous meal, we were surprised with a refreshing Parmesan Cheese Ice Cream with Candied Asparagus and Truffle Chantilly Sauce dessert. Quite a unique dish for dessert which drew many surprised faces which slowly turned into happy smiles once the ice cream worked its magic! Exquisite red and white wines were also carefully paired with this menu by Villa Danieli Manager, Raja Adli.
After such a delightful dinner, many guests were seen walking around and networking with each other, thoroughly soaking in the jovial, fun and carefree ambience of fabulous food, exquisite wines, impeccable service and most of all, great company. Needless to say, all guests went home with fond memories of a well-enjoyed evening.
Villa Danieli serves authentic Italian cuisine for lunch from 12pm to 2.30pm (Mondays to Fridays) and for dinner from 6.30pm to 10.30pm (Mondays to Saturdays).
