jones the grocer’s launches new gourmet menu and kids menu full of healthy choices for your everyday
UAE, August 2015 – jones the grocer, the UAE’s favourite Australian emporium, introduces a fresh, new all day dining menu that features a selection of wheat free, paleo and vegetarian options available in all stores. The jones the grocer kitchen team, lead by Executive Chef Alex Ferris, have constructed a menu that is innovative, delicious and above all displays the team’s ongoing commitment to remain at the forefront of the food revolution in the UAE.
Whether breakfasting or brunching in any of the vibrant stores try the homemade coconut flour pancakes with blueberry compote, or a variation on the traditional porridge that is both dairy and sugar free and is prepared with quinoa, bulgur wheat and soya milk with apple honey, pear, raisins, toasted almonds and cinnamon. There is a gentle twist to the ever popular brioche French toast which is now accompanied by vanilla roasted peaches, fresh raspberries, peach syrup and crème anglaise. Freshly made smoothies rise above the fray: kale and pine nuts, berry and banana and a regionally influenced date and almonds.
For those looking for a quick bite whilst at work or while out and about there are two new vegetarian options. The smoked scarmoza cheese and roast peppers ciabatta is an absolute must try. The zaatar grilled zucchini and eggplant wholemeal wrap with tabbouleh, spiced tomato jam, pomegranate and cucumber yoghurt is a delicious fusion of the east and near east.
The café menu, which kicks off at 11:30am, now includes an uncomplicated yet moreish wheat free and vegetarian fusilli salad with buratta, grilled zucchini, chili, basil and homemade rocket pesto. Paleo followers will welcome a lemongrass, pumpkin and ginger soup that is gently spiced and full of flavour.
The Asian inspired seared Sea Bass on soba noodles with bok choy, pickled daikon, chilli, nori, cashews and yuzu ponzu is bursting with fresh flavours edged with citrusy yuzu and a dash of chili. Those looking for heartier options will be amazed by the zucchini lasagna with a combination of five cheeses; Shropshire blue, grana padano, mimolette, aged cheddar and buffalo mozzarella and served with cherry vine tomatoes and herb salad. The new crispy duck leg made using the confit method that slow cooks the duck overnight giving delicate and tender melt in the mouth dish that is served with braised lentils, beef bacon and scrumptious kale and honey roasted parsnips.
jones the grocer’s retail team have put together a range of handmade ice creams & sorbets that include gorgeous flavours like yuzu, cassis, spiced peach, chocolate and marshmallow and more that can be purchased to savour in store or take home.
jones kids menu also includes the best flavours in the healthiest way like homemade granola and puffed rice with berry compote and low fat yoghurt in a jar, coconut pancakes or French toast with fresh fruit to start the day as the tomato and cheese gluten free pasta baked or the delicious Cajun grilled chicken and guacamole burger. For every two adult main courses one child eats free.
