Tilal Liwa Hotel reports over 100% increase in revenue for 2012
Property plans to diversity adventure activities to attract more visitors in 2013
Dubai, UAE (February 04, 2013) – Tilal Liwa Hotel, a secluded hideaway leisure resort perched on the edge of Rub Al Khali Desert, reported an excellent performance in 2012, with over 100% increase in revenue in all the departments. Thus, the property plans to diversify its wide range of adventure activities this year to continue attracting guests particularly from the corporate segment.
The growth was recorded for the hotel’s overall revenue compared to 2011 with room revenue increasing by 108%, F&B with 121% increase and other revenue departments with 112% increase. The location of the property plus the different activities offered to guests make Tilal Liwa Hotel an ideal destination for families and weekenders from the UAE and the Middle East and the leisure travelers from Germany, UK and other European and Asian countries.
Ayman Ashor, General Manager, Tilal Liwa Hotel, said: “We are pleased to report that there has been growth in overall revenue for Tilal Liwa Hotel compared to 2011 in the following business segments – online, weekend and leisure. This is due to the attractive step-in price and added values offered to guest for our attractive packages. This season, we are preparing more adventure activities to offer to guest such as archery, desert walk to the oasis, team building activities and more. The main areas to focus on are the weekend, overseas leisure market and groups segment looking for team building, workshop, regional offsite meeting, product launches, and so on!”
Currently the hotel offers several activities for the guests such as dune driving, quad biking, camel riding, sightseeing visits to the camel farms, camel race arena, sand boarding, desert walking sessions, barbecue parties, live music and a lot of kids’ activities. For the overseas leisure market, the hotel targets international tour operators to promote an attractive Desert & Beach combination packages with sister hotels in Abu Dhabi.
Ashor is confident that 2013 will be another excellent year for the industry with increase in guest numbers, revenue, guest nights and in the average length of stay. There will be challenges to maintain profitability while keeping a high service standard and guest satisfaction, he added, because guests in general are now expecting the best for less while hotel costs are increasing.
“In such a price sensitive market, value is the most important factor but it doesn’t mean that the we have to compromise on prices. With the influx of new hotels opening, competition is definitely a threat to business in 2013. However, I believe it is not as big an issue as everybody thinks. It boils down to advance and smart planning, knowing your market and effective strategies,” he noted.
