Zonal Drying™ System to be installed in flydubai’s Boeing B737-800 aircraft
System to lead to significant savings in emissions and fuel costs
Dubai, UAE, 31 May, 2011– flydubai and CTT Systems today announced that flydubai has placed an order for 31 Zonal Drying™ Systems to be installed in its Boeing B737-800 aircraft. The systems, which eliminate condensation in the aircraft, will be installed by Boeing at time of production on flydubai’s aircraft, to be delivered 2011-2015.
“This is one of CTT’s most important orders as it is for a large amount of aircraft and from a new expanding airline operating in the very dynamic middle-east region,” comments CTT’s VP Sales & Marketing Ulf Liljenberg on today’s order. “With the currently fast rising fuel prices we are happy to help flydubai keeping their costs down and the fact that flydubai is a very efficient low cost carrier with high load factors and high utilization will maximize the benefits of our Zonal Drying™ System,” continues Ulf Liljenberg.
Ghaith Al Ghaith, CEO of flydubai, said: “The Zonal Drying™ System from CTT will give flydubai significant savings in emissions and fuel costs over the life of our fleet. For one aircraft in one year this system reduces Carbon Dioxide emissions by 69 tonnes, Nitrogen Oxide emissions by 200kg, Hydrocarbon emissions by 35kg and Kolmonoxid emissions by 480kg. When the rest of our fleet is fitted with this system we will be saving 2,100 tonnes of Carbon Dioxide emissions each year – and that’s equivalent to the emissions from 660 cars. These savings are incredible and combined with flydubai’s other efforts to minimize emissions will ensure we operate one of the most environmentally friendly fleets in the industry.”
By eliminating condensation in the aircraft both operational and maintenance costs will be lowered through:
· lowered fuel consumption (i.e. lower aircraft weight due to elimination of accumulated water)
· improved operational reliability (i.e. less corrective maintenance)
· consistent insulation performance (i.e. water reduces insulation performance)
Further, the aircraft residual value will be protected or even improved due to reduced corrosive impact over the years. Reduced fuel burn (due to lowered aircraft weight) also has a positive impact on the environment.
CTT’s Zonal Drying™ System has been selected as basic equipment for the new B787 “Dreamliner” and CTT’s humidifiers are options in crew rest compartments and on flight deck. The A380 offers CTT’s humidifiers as option in crew rest compartments. CTT will also supply the Zonal Drying™ system and the Cair™ system for the A350 aircraft, as options.
Established in March 2008, flydubai, Dubai’s first low cost airline, started operations on June 1st, 2009. Set up by the government of Dubai, flydubai is aimed at making travel a little less complex, a little less stressful and a little less expensive.
Based on a low cost business model, flydubai offers a value-for-money product at an extremely competitive price. Its website (www.flydubai.com) is an important interface for customers, together with a call centre (+9714 301 0800) and travel partners.
