ABHISHEK SINGH NEGI APPOINTED AS NEW DIRECTOR OF FOOD & BEVERAGE AT THE WESTIN LANGKAWI RESORT & SPA
He brings 15 years of international management experience in food and beverage operations
Langkawi, Malaysia – November 2015 : The Westin Langkawi Resort & Spa is pleased to announce the appointment of Abhishek Singh Negi as new Director of Food & Beverage. He brings with him 15 years' experience, having worked in some of the world's leading hotel chains including Starwood’s Luxury Collection, and various other premium hotel brands. He is recognised for his management innovation, leadership and promotional expertise.
Abhishek returns to the Starwood family after a successful five-year period overseeing the food and beverage operations of multiple hotel outlets in Africa and the Indian Ocean. Most recently as Director of Food & Beverage for an Africa based hotel group, Abhishek was instrumental in introducing innovative food and beverage concepts in the market and overseeing a large workforce of 160 employees.
He also has valuable pre-opening experience at island resorts, having established five star food and beverage concepts at two new luxury resorts in the Maldives. Abhishek further developed his operational management experience at premium Starwood properties in the United Arab Emirates, namely Grosvenor House, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Dubai and Le Méridien Abu Dhabi. After gaining a degree in Hospitality Management from the Robert Gordon University in Scotland, he spent his early formative years at major hotel chains in India.
His strengths lie in an innovative and creative approach to menu planning, and well rounded expertise in hotel operations, product services, development and brand standards. An effective communicator, he is equally at ease working with corporate clients or serving the discerning needs of VIPs. Abhishek has served such dignitaries as Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon, and IMF Head, Christine Lagarde. He has a keen interest and expertise in wine and has travelled to destinations such as France and South Africa to visit vine yards.
Abhishek looks forward to delighting Westin guests with diverse local flavours. “Langkawi is a gastronomic haven with an eclectic mix of styles from Malay-Indo, Indian, Chinese to Thai recipes. My favourite is Mee Goreng Mamak, an Indian Muslim dish featuring yellow noodles, beef, chicken or shrimp with soy and chilli,” he said.
“I aim to deliver a winning Westin brand experience for our customers. My goal is to consistently offer award-winning fare so that makes for an outstanding dining experience for our guests.”
Passionate about delivering fine food and meticulous customer service standards, Abhishek has been influential in driving innovation and has been the proud recipient of numerous industry accolades. In 2001, he was recognised as ‘The Best Bar Manager of India’ by the Federation of Hotel & Restaurant Associations. Other honours include the ‘Best Manager Award’ in 2004 and 2005 at Leela Palace Kempinski in Bangalore, and the ‘Best Restaurant and Bar,’ presented by TIME Magazine in 2008 for Buddha Bar at Grosvenor House, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Dubai.
Away from work Abhishek likes to unwind by playing golf or go horse-riding.
