Starwood Appoints Anne Scott as General Manager of The St. Regis Kuala Lumpur Hotel and Residences

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia : February 2016 – Starwood Hotels & Resorts Southeast Asia recently announced the appointment of Anne Scott as the General Manager of The St. Regis Kuala Lumpur Hotel and Residences. In this role, Anne will oversee the pre-opening initiatives of the highly anticipated property, comprised of 208 luxuriously appointed guestrooms and suites, and 160 exceptional residences. Scheduled to open in Q2 2016, the hotel and residences, backed by St. Regis’ legacy of refined elegance and bespoke services, promise to elevate the luxury hospitality landscape in the Malaysian capital.
A seasoned hotelier, Anne possesses two decades of experience with Starwood, including years of working with the company’s top luxury brands. Most recently, she served as General Manager of The St. Regis Sanya Yalong Bay Resort, Hainan Island, China. In this role, her most notable achievements included the creation of a new luxury marketing strategy, focusing on enhanced guest experiences, such as yacht club, mangrove kayaking and new spa programmes. She also strengthened the resort’s St. Regis Butler service as well as its food and beverage operations. Among many hotel awards and accolades, Anne was appointed to the Global St. Regis General Manager Advisory Board.
Prior to the above position, Anne assumed the role of General Manager of The Andaman, a Luxury Collection Resort in Langkawi, Malaysia, for over three years. There, she initiated the renovation program for the hotel covering new room configurations and renovation of premium suites and the creation of Jala beachside restaurant. This endeavour also encompassed a comprehensive marketing and sales plan, and the creation of new unique selling points, such as the Andaman Coral Reef Conservation programme, among other initiatives. Anne’s efforts earned her the designation of “Asia’s Leading Woman in Hospitality” 2011 from Women in Leadership Forum, as well as Starwood President’s Award 2012 for “Outstanding Team” on the launch of a coral nursery.
Other Starwood management roles include Opening General Manager at Le Méridien Chiang Rai Resort, Chiang Rai, Thailand; Hotel Manager of The Park Tower, Knightsbridge, London – a member of The Luxury Collection; and Area Director Human Resources – UK, Ireland and Scandinavia, Starwood Hotels and Resorts. Anne also served as the Regional Vice-President of Human Resources for Marriott International.

A British national, Anne earned a BA in Accommodation and Catering Studies from Napier University in Edinburgh, Scotland.
