Wyndham Hotels & Resorts is now seeking a Manager, Owner & Franchise Communications to join our team at the Parsippany - 22 Sylvan Way location in Parsippany , New Jersey .
The Global Communications team is seeking a talented, high-energy, detail-oriented manager-level communications professional to play a critical role in helping inform, engage, and inspire Wyndham Hotels & Resorts' thousands of franchised hotel owners (known as franchisees) in North America (U.S. and Canada) through effective and efficient communications.
The Manager, Franchise Communications will be responsible for developing communications that inform franchisees about the tools and initiatives Wyndham has in place to help their businesses succeed; help them understand how these tools/initiatives can benefit their businesses; and help foster their engagement, get them to take action/participate with said tools/initiatives. The successful candidate will be a self-starter who is able to work independently and serve as a key contributor for the writing, editing, and development of various franchisee communications, including, but not limited to, written, visual, and/or video messages (i.e., email notifications, newsletters, video scripts, PowerPoint presentations, intranet postings, etc.).
The role requires the ability to grasp and understand company and industry concepts; think strategically about message dissemination; and develop complex messages concisely and in an expertly written fashion. The individual must have the ability to assess and act on levels of urgency, provide guidance, and exercise judgement over the need for communications in the context of business priorities.
The role offers exposure and interaction with all levels of the organization, requiring accountability, poise, and professionalism at all times. The individual must be comfortable interacting with Wyndham's franchisees and must be able work closely with senior company executives, hotel brand leaders, and business partners across the organization in North America, as well communications counterparts globally. Successfully managing and meeting varied and competing deadlines is a must. The position requires the candidate to be flexible and available outside of traditional business hours in the event of crisis situations, company events, or timely franchisee-focused news/announcements.
The role is based in Wyndham's Parsippany, N.J., headquarters; however, remote scenarios will be considered for the right candidate. This role reports to the Senior Director, Owner and Franchise Communications.
Develop & Create: Oversee franchise communications campaigns, projects and deliverables including research, strategy development, message creation and implementation. Develop communications and strategies for day-to-day execution that strongly link to business missions and visions. Liaise with global communications counterparts to help ensure message delivery for projects and initiatives impacting franchisees globally. Provide presentation support to senior leaders for franchisee conferences and other relevant meetings.
Conceptualize & Innovate: Bring innovative ideas to the table to help enhance the quality and delivery of franchisee-focused messaging. Seek and create opportunities for efficiency in communications by assessing and improving current systems and processes.
Implement: Prepare and traffic messages to team, key business partners and contributors, and legal for feedback and approvals. Maintain a distribution schedule that efficiently manages the volume of messaging delivered to franchisees on behalf of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, its brands, and its individual support departments. Manage franchisee distribution list(s).
Collaborate: Participate in regular meetings with teams across the organization. Foster and maintain relationships with global leaders and global communications colleagues. Work cross-functionally to share information with relevant stakeholders as appropriate to ensure complete coverage of company initiatives and news. Partner with global public relations and internal communications counterparts to ensure that relevant external and internal campaigns are shared with franchisees.
Counsel: Establish credibility with leadership teams and other key communication contributors to gain the ability to influence and provide guidance on best practices for messaging. Demonstrate confidence and conviction when providing guidance, pushing back and/or making and making recommendations based on knowledge, experience, and communications best practices.
Measure: Monitor and track effectiveness of existing communications channels, messaging, and programs.
What Else: Manage and deliver other projects and duties as assigned. Travel to franchisee conferences/meetings and brand/company events for support and/or as development opportunity as warranted.
