The Role
The Senior Director, Strategic Franchise Initiatives is responsible for advancing the strategy, growth and evolution of Wyndham's Franchise diversity programs - including Women Own the Room by Wyndham and BOLD by Wyndham. This position will develop and execute events, administer programmatic elements and partnerships that position Wyndham Hotels & Resorts as the franchise partner of choice for diverse and underrepresented ownership groups, and ensure their support and success throughout their ownership lifecycle. This position will work in close collaboration with B2B marketing, Communications, Franchise Sales and Franchise Operations, and more broadly partner with counterparts across the organization including but not limited to Revenue Management, Sales, Finance and Wyndham University. As an owner advocate, this position will also support and provide insight development of key owner-facing initiatives including Wyndham Community.
What you'll do
Program strategy & Growth
- Lead development, and execution, of Wyndham's Franchise Diversity program strategy and value proposition that advances diverse and underrepresented ownership groups and ensures their success as Wyndham franchisees. Ensure program components, offers, partnerships and events are driving meaningful impact, and partner cross-functionally to optimize the program as needed. Position Wyndham Hotels & Resorts as the franchise partner of choice for diverse and unrepresented owners.
- Responsible for goals associated with applications, executions and openings to existing diversity programs and any future programs.
Events - Develop annual calendar of educational and networking events to both: 1) advance diverse owners on their path to ownership, and 2) support existing members of Wyndham's programs.
- Events for program members: Plan networking and educational events/webinars for current program members and franchisees in partnership with Wyndham University to establish an inclusive, supportive community. Partner cross-functionally to identify and develop content that resonates with community members.
- Industry Events: Ensure strong representation of Wyndham's franchise diversity programs at industry and partner events.
Owner Advocate & Hotel Performance - Serve as the central point person - internally and externally - for Wyndham's franchise diversity programs. Ensure awareness and alignment on member support required and support structure across the organization.
- Identify key owner needs and common barriers throughout an owners' lifecycle and establish support plan, working with internal counterparts and external partners. Support needs for new owners range from a general understanding of the development process to prepping for discussions with lenders, introductions to lenders, and construction / renovation as just a few examples.
- Partner with owner to drive hotel performance once hotels are open and operating.
Partnerships - Establish, manage and strengthen industry partnerships to further strengthen value proposition. Work cross-functionally to develop and launch special incentives and/or programs for Wyndham's Franchise Diversity program members. Partnerships to include but not limited to market participants, industry organizations, sourcing partners, colleges and universities.
Educational Strategy & Content - Partner with B2B marketing, franchise sales and operations teams to identify and prioritize educational needs for prospective owners at various stages of the development process. Establish strategy to address key needs, tapping into internal experts as well as external partnerships where appropriate.
- Will support and provide insight development of key owner-facing initiatives including Wyndham Community.
Program Marketing and PR - Develop and execute marketing strategy and materials in partnership with B2B marketing and PR.
You'll be successful if you haveKnowledge and skills: - A strong understanding of the hospitality industry, and the hotel acquisition and development process.
- A passion for advancing diversity in the hospitality industry.
- Incredible project management skills and solid fluency with creative agency projects and processes.
- Must be an outstanding communicator, flexible, optimistic and eagerly drive results.
- Highly comfortable leading meetings, driving tactics that are connected to strategic priorities, taking direction and input from multiple sources and synthesizing feedback into actionable next steps.
- Manage multiple projects at the same time while keeping tight focus on priorities.
- Ability to think independently and make decisions.
- Be solutions oriented and pro-active but also adaptable to shift in priorities.
- Detail-oriented, organized and tenacious.
Technical Skills: - Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Experience with Salesforce.com strongly preferred.
- Job experience (number of years, type/level of previous experience).
- Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in marketing and program development.
Required Qualifications/ExperienceEducation: - Bachelor's degree, Master's degree in Marketing or MBA Preferred.
