Job Description
A Mixologist at Fairmont Banff Springs is responsible for the development and creation of all specialty drinks. Our mixologist take pride in each drink that leaves their bar; with a critical eye for detail, extensive beverage knowledge, and a flare for showmanship.
Starting Rate: $19.87 per hour
We recognize tenure through our compensation. Hourly rates increase after six months, and yearly to three years. At three years the pay rate for this role would be $20.87
What you will be doing:
- Create and innovate signature cocktails using high-quality ingredients, ensuring every drink aligns with outlet themes and current beverage trends.
- Deliver personalized, memorable service by engaging with guests, recommending drinks based on preferences, and showcasing showmanship in presentation.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and proper storage behind the bar; manage inventory, ordering, and par levels while minimizing waste and ensuring accurate billing and float procedures.
- Work closely with kitchen teams to pair food and beverage offerings; train and mentor fellow bartenders in mixology techniques and menu knowledge.
- Perform opening/closing duties, polish glassware, and maintain all bar areas; demonstrate strong knowledge of classic cocktails, barista beverages, and outlet-specific drinks.
Qualifications
Your experience and skills include:- Several years of bartending experience with strong knowledge of spirits, liqueurs, wine, beer, classic and contemporary cocktails, and mixology techniques.
- Proven ability to develop innovative drinks with meticulous attention to measurement, garnishing, and visual presentation.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences and engaging confidently with diverse clientele.
- ProServe certification required; strong understanding of responsible beverage service and local alcohol regulations; prior experience with point-of-sale systems.
- Ability to lift up to 80 lbs, stand/walk for extended periods, and work a flexible schedule including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.
