Job Description
As our Recreation Supervisor, you will take care of the little things and the big things at the Beach and pools: ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for Colleagues and guests, ensuring a seamless daily operation and overseeing the growth and development of the department Colleagues.
What you will be doing:- Assist & ensure seamless daily operations of Hui Holokai, beach and pool areas with an emphasis on luxury service standards
- Conduct pre-shift briefings
- Assist the Recreation manager with special projects, developing, planning, and implementing guest activities, events, special group events, site inspections, and pre-con meetings as necessary
- Work closely with the departmental leadership and staff to provide support and direction
- Take ownership for guest's cabanas and daybeds, reservations and special requests. Work closely with the concierge and activities agents
- Motivate, lead, coach and monitor the performance levels of all team members
- Assist with hiring, coaching, and completing colleague performance reviews and discussions
- Record & control inventory, including ordering of department's linen inventories, retail, and guest supplies
- Supervise, coordinate and direct prompt, efficient and courteous service in & around department's areas. Assign and control side duties in a fair and reasonable manner
- Ensure the deliver of luxury service by maintaining high staff morale and team spirit while maximizing profit potential
- Establish and maintain effective colleague relations, watch proper staffing levels and labor hours
- Maintain atmosphere of aloha spirit by providing engaging, personalized, timely, and efficient service to our discerning guests
- Focus attention on problem resolution and guest satisfaction with beach and pool experience, including activities
- Promote and enforce health and safety awareness as well as to have a complete understanding of the emergency procedures
- Follow hotel and departmental policies, procedures and service standards
- Contribute to the improvement of the operation by contributing ideas, making suggestions and actively participate in departmental communication meetings
- Actively participate and promote the Fairmont Orchid, ALL program and department specific initiatives in working towards sustainable operations
- Actively participate in monthly departmental sales promotions
Supportive Duties and Responsibilities:In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position will be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the manager based upon the particular requirements of the hotel:
- Perform other duties as requested, such as cleaning unexpected spills and executive special guest requests
- Assist with upcoming groups and groups in house
Qualifications
Your experience and skills include:- Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in customer service practices and relationship marketing
- Computer literacy a must including applications such as Word and Excel, & data base software
- Professional in presentation, customer service demeaner and guest service discretion
- Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
- Self-motivation and organizational skills with initiative and the proven work ability to work well under pressure
- Previously demonstrated the commitment to exceeding guests' expectations at all times
- A Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in Hospitality from a recognized institute is preferred
- Knowledge of the Big Island of Hawaii and all it has to offer is required
Additional Information
Hourly Rate: $31.46 USD
Visa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in the United States. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining U.S. work authorization.
