The Director of Rooms at Grand Hyatt San Francisco is a strategic and operational leader responsible for overseeing the Rooms Division, including Front Office, Housekeeping, Guest Services, Concierge, and Security. This role ensures exceptional guest experiences while maintaining operational efficiency, colleague engagement, and financial success. The Director of Rooms plays a key role on the hotel's Executive Committee, contributing to the overall strategy, service culture, and operational excellence of the property.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Operations

• Lead and manage all areas of the Rooms Division, ensuring consistent execution of brand standards and luxury guest service.

• Develop and implement operational strategies that drive guest satisfaction, colleague performance, and departmental profitability.

• Monitor and enhance the quality and efficiency of daily operations through continuous improvement processes.

• Serve as the property's MOD (Manager on Duty) on a rotating basis, representing senior leadership.

Guest Experience

• Ensure all team members deliver personalized, anticipatory service that exceeds guest expectations.

• Analyze guest feedback, service scores (e.g., Medallia), and online reviews to identify trends and develop action plans.

• Collaborate with other departments to resolve guest concerns promptly and effectively.

Team Management

• Recruit, train, mentor, and lead a diverse team of department heads and frontline staff.

• Foster a positive work culture rooted in Hyatt's purpose: We care for people so they can be their best.

• Set performance goals and conduct regular evaluations to develop leadership talent and career growth opportunities.

Financial Management

• Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial plans for the Rooms Division.

• Analyze financial reports (labor, cost per occupied room, RevPAR) and drive cost control initiatives without compromising service quality.

• Partner with the Revenue and Sales teams to optimize occupancy and revenue through strategic planning.

Compliance & Safety

• Ensure adherence to all local laws, regulations, Hyatt policies, and safety standards.

• Oversee risk management protocols, security operations, and emergency procedures.

This position has salary compensation ranging from $116,900-$181,200.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or related field (required).

Minimum 5-7 years of progressive rooms division management experience, preferably in a large-scale luxury hotel environment.

Experience within the Hyatt brand or similar international hotel brands strongly preferred.

Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills with a hands-on, approachable management style.

Strong financial acumen and ability to interpret and act on financial reports.

Deep understanding of service excellence, luxury standards, and guest engagement practices.

Proficiency with hotel management systems (e.g., Opera PMS, HotSOS, BirchStreet).

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
