Miraval of the Berkshires, is seeking an experienced, highly motivated, team-centered, and forward-thinking individual for the role of Farm and Barn Assistant. The farm and barn assistant will be responsible for caring for greenhouses, gardens, livestock and horses. The candidate will also be responsible to provide assistance for any of our equine and farm programming as requested by programming specialists or our programming management team. Some responsibilities include:

• Feeding and providing daily needs to include turn in/ turn out routine for any or all farm animals (including horses).

• Asses all animals and plants for health and well-being at the beginning and end of any shift.

• Mucking of stalls, paddocks, and turn out areas.

• Putting away deliveries to the farm and barn area (hay, grain, bedding)

• Tending to the Miraval Farm's gardens and greenhouses to including watering, weeding, seeding, planting, transplanting, trellising, scouting, pest maintenance, and harvesting as needed.

• Aiding in the care of our Apiary as needed under direct supervision of our Beekeeper.

• Utilizing tractors to aid in manure and compost management.

• Utilizing equipment such as weed-whackers and mowers to maintain fence lines and programming areas.

• Setting up and breaking down programs as needed. This includes assistance with moving horses, and livestock. Providing aid in specific program set- up and break down in all farm and garden areas as needed. Maintaining programming space in a tidy fashion, including wiping down tables and chairs, and returning any furniture or equipment to their proper places at the end of every day.

• Taking part in infrastructure projects which may include (but is not limited to) fence installation and maintenance, garden bed installation, planting of large trees and shrubs.

Qualifications

• • Three plus years in one, or preferably more than one of the following areas:
  
  o Garden, landscape, and greenhouse maintenance (vegetable production a plus)
  
  o Horse Care
  
  o Tending to livestock (chickens, goats, swine, etc.)
  
  • Ability to operate small machinery and equipment a plus
  
  • Light carpentry skills a plus
  
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  
  • Collaboration and communication are a must for team members to ensure all needs of the farm have been met, and projects are executed.
  
  • The ability to interact with guests and answer questions, delivering a good customer service experience is a must
  
  • A passion for nature and farming! The right candidate will be willing to learn, grow, and work in all areas of the Miraval Farm.
