Job Summary
Hands on position which deals with assisting the management of the Front Office and Housekeeping, ensuring all guest needs are met or exceeded. Maintains quality and consistency throughout all guest service aspects and ensures all of the staff are qualified and trained appropriately.
- Job Title: Rooms Supervisor (Must be available to work 2 overnight shifts on Sunday & Monday every week)
- Reports To: Front Office Manager
- Department: Front Office/Housekeeping
The Salary Range for the position will be CA$ 52,000 - 54,600
Qualifications- Minimum of one (1) year hotel experience
- Post-secondary degree in hospitality or Tourism
- Energetic and outgoing, with a positive attitude, driven to provide outstanding guest service.
- Familiarity with Canadian and provincial labour law.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of guests, employees and management.
- Excellent organizational, computer, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Very strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage a collective bargaining agreement
Daily Tasks:- Assists with scheduling and overseeing as manager on duty when required. Ensuring standards are maintained in the shift they work.
- Assists in supporting and enforcing all corporate operating policies and procedures.
- Supervises staff, assists in on-boarding and orientation of new employees, helps in preparing schedules, mediates staff disputes, trains and develops staff, and helps in administrating disciplinary action.
- Helps in setting short and long-term departmental goals and develops strategies to achieve them.
- Providing the following shift with a complete, accurate and up to date logbook of the daily activities and follow up on recorded notations as required and conducts daily briefings.
- Responding to individual guest needs and departmental needs as they occur.
- Meets with guests to resolve complaints and respond to requests.
- Assists in controlling the issuance of supplies and material.
- Ensures that health, safety and fire procedures and regulations are followed.
- Assists in the communication of all loyalty program information and guest comment scores to all other departments.
- Liaises with other departments, ensuring communication and the coordination of activities.
- Assists in completing, checking, authorizing, and submitting of payroll information.
- Assists in monitoring daily labor costs.
- Provides supervision of assigned Housekeeping & Laundry colleagues; owns the shift in all operational aspects.
- Checks all rooms listed on the assignment sheet/HotSOS as vacant, reporting any discrepancies to Front Desk and Housekeeping Office.
- Assigns colleague tasks and duties on a daily basis.
- Inspects rooms completed by Room Attendants to ensure that all rooms have been properly cleaned to Brand standards, before releasing the rooms as ready for occupancy.
- Supervises the activities of Room Attendants to ensure clean, attractive and well-maintained guestrooms, hallways and service areas according to set standards in order to achieve prompt courteous service.
- Maintain appropriate standards of dress, hygiene, uniforms, appearance and conduct of housekeeping colleagues.
- Attends/Leads daily housekeeping operations meeting and acts on special instructions.
- Establishes effective colleague relations; holds individuals accountable to their work performance and productivity.
- Assist/facilitates scheduled Housekeeping Departmental meetings
- Inventory Control and creates supply requisitions necessary for daily operation.
- Participates in monthly inventory process for the housekeeping department.
- Recommends process improvements and/or procedural changes, improving department operations and efficiencies.
- Completes and submits maintenance requisitions for Engineering Department and follows up to ensure that the work is completed.
- Supervises Room Attendants by coordinating training, participating in performance appraisal and discipline problems to the Housekeeping Manager.
- Ensures that all passkeys have been returned at the end of the shift.
- Ensures all lost and found items are delivered to Security Department.
- Inspects surrounding public areas, floor linen rooms, pool and fitness area; ensuring hotel standards of cleaning are met.
- Responds to guest requests in a timely fashion, ensuring satisfaction.
- Monitors the stock on Room Attendant carts, storage and issue supplies.
- Performs other tasks as assigned by the management
