Job Description For Assistant Manager Tax Compliance (Analyst)
JOB SUMMARY
This Assistant Manager Tax Compliance (Analyst) is a key member of the Europe, Middle East, and Africa ("EMEA") Entity, Reporting & Tax team.
The primary responsibility of the Analyst is to support the Tax function, coordinating and managing all aspects of the local tax compliance.
This entails support with the key compliance activities including but limited to meeting local requirements of submission of Indirect/Direct Tax and Transfer pricing:
- VAT-, WHT-, Corporate Income Tax ("CIT") Returns.
- Informative Returns/Country by Country Notifications and Local Filing and the related planning, market/competition research and subsequent documentation.
The role reports to the Transfer Pricing ("TP") Manager.
SCOPE/BUSINESS CONTEXT/EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS - Assist with the preparation and review of CIT/WHT and VAT returns for the filing of the tax deliverables in various jurisdictions within EMEA.
- Work on internal tax related deliverables for Headquarters.
- Partner with Tax, Treasury Accounting Services, Corporate & Statutory Accounting, Treasury, Legal and all other elated internal and external stakeholders to meet compliance goals.
- Collect and gather information from databases for analyzing arm's length prices.
- Use relevant computer programs to verify details of recorded transactions.
- Support TP Manager in coordinating Country-by-Country reporting for EMEA.
- Assisting TP Manager on EMEA data gathering regarding Transfer Pricing related initiatives.
- Maintaining accurate and detailed working papers in the agreed standard format.
- Working on several deliverables at any one time.
- Establishing effective working relationships with all team members and key stakeholders.
- Building own Direct/Indirect Tax and Transfer Pricing technical knowledge and practical experience.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Line Manager.
- Recommend ways to bring programs and operations into compliance with goals and objectives.
CANDIDATE PROFILE - Up to 3 years' experience in Tax and/or Management accounting desired.
- Desire to learn about International Taxation and Hotel Operations.
- Understanding of broader finance and accounting concept outside of taxation.
- Advanced Excel skills and the ability to work with large amounts of data.
- Ability to collect, analyze, and evaluate facts.
- Knowledge of Peoplesoft is advantageous.
- Ability to establish and retain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
- An ability to manage time efficiently.
Education or Certification - Bachelor's degree.
- Studies in progress for Accounting and/or Tax qualification (ACA, ACCA, CTA, CIMA or equivalent) are advantageous, but not essential.
Attributes, Knowledge, and Skills - Demonstrates adequate organizational and prioritization skills, managing multiple deliverables.
- Good business process skills, ensuring compliance with existing processes and producing quality results.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative work environment.
- Must be able to work in English.
- European or Arabic language skills are advantageous, but not essential.
- High degree of initiative, personal responsibility, and integrity.
- Interest in Transfer Pricing.
- An appetite to learn.
- Self-motivated.
- Seeks out feedback and development opportunities.
Other - Perform other related tasks as assigned by Management.
- Complies with Marriott International policies and procedures.
- The position may involve travelling and overnight stays as appropriate to cover responsibilities.
- Working hours are as required to do your job but normally not less than 40 hours per week. This may involve some weekend work.
