The Opportunity
We have one full-time position available for an Engineering Technician Supervisor (Part time) to support all aspects of the hotels Engineering function. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this is a fantastic opportunity to grow and advance your career in Australia's first Luxury Collection Hotel.
We're looking for an experienced technician supervisor who can manage and support the ongoing maintenance inquiries; Responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of tools, equipment, and systems across the property. Duties include scheduling and performing preventative maintenance, managing inventory and supplies, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and responding to guest service requests. The role also involves supervising and supporting engineering staff, assisting with hiring and training, and ensuring operational efficiency and safety. Must be able to operate machinery, perform physical tasks, and maintain a professional and guest-focused demeanor at all times.
Key Accountabilities
- Oversee daily maintenance operations and support the Engineering Manager in managing team performance and task allocation.
- Conduct routine plant inspections and ensure timely completion of maintenance tasks to meet quality and safety standards.
- Perform hands-on maintenance, including basic repairs on equipment, plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, and general handyman duties.
- Respond promptly to guest maintenance requests, ensuring high levels of service and satisfaction.
- Monitor compliance with company policies, safety regulations (e.g., OSHA), and departmental procedures.
- Supervise, train, and motivate team members; provide guidance, performance feedback, and support professional development.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth operations and efficient task execution.
- Maintain inventory, order supplies, and ensure availability of tools and equipment for daily operations.
- Support the development and communication of departmental goals, expectations, and schedules.
- Act as a role model by working alongside the team and promoting a positive, collaborative work environment.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols, including physical tasks such as lifting (up to 20kg), climbing, and operating machinery.
- Uphold brand standards and core values while fostering strong internal and external relationships.
- Assist in developing and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency, safety, and service quality.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Profile - Experience working in a similar position (preferably hotel setting)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Proactive and solutions focused
- Master in time management and organizational skills
- Knowledge or ability to acquire knowledge in the following categories: air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finish skills, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and/or general building
- Demonstrate sound decision-making capability and able to work autonomously.
- Available to work a 7-day rotating roster as required
