Job Summary
The Maintenance Technician I is responsible for executing corrective and preventive maintenance tasks throughout the hotel, ensuring compliance with Marriott Brand Standards. This role requires skills in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, and equipment repair, as well as the ability to respond to guest requests, log activities in GXP, and use the Transcendent tracking system to document preventive and corrective maintenance work.
Key Responsibilities
Corrective and Preventive Maintenance
•Respond to and address guest repair requests, logging each case in GXP and ensuring optimal response times.
•Utilize the Transcendent system to document preventive and corrective maintenance, ensuring traceability of all interventions.
•Conduct preventive maintenance on kitchen, mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems.
•Perform visual inspections and tests on tools and equipment to identify potential issues.
•Execute minor plumbing repairs, including unclogging drains and fixing toilets.
•Replace and repair electrical switches, outlets, lamps, and basic wiring.
•Conduct minor repairs in carpentry, painting, and drywall, ensuring proper restoration of walls and furniture.
•Replace light bulbs and air conditioning filters in guest rooms and common areas.
Safety and Compliance
•Immediately report safety hazards, maintenance issues, accidents, or injuries to the supervisor.
•Follow all hotel safety and emergency policies and procedures.
•Ensure proper storage and handling of flammable materials and chemicals.
Equipment & Inventory Management
•Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves and utility cut-offs for the building.
•Maintain an updated inventory of tools and spare parts, ensuring timely supply requisitions.
•Log all part usage and maintenance activities in Transcendent for accurate tracking.
•Adjust and program air handling unit (AHU) schedules via the control system.
Guest Service & Support
•Respond promptly to maintenance-related guest complaints and ensure effective resolution.
•Assist guests with in-room equipment issues (TVs, thermostats, safes, etc.).
•Apply the LEARN service recovery model for technical issues:
o Listen carefully to the guest's concern.
o Empathize with their situation.
o Apologize sincerely for the inconvenience.
o Resolve the issue efficiently.
o Notify supervisors or relevant departments of any incident.
Job Requirements
Education & Experience
•High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
•Experience in general maintenance (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and painting).
•Experience in hotel maintenance or commercial property management (preferred).
•Knowledge or experience using Transcendent (preferred).
Certifications & Licenses
•Driver's License (required).
•Safety or electrical certifications (preferred).
Skills & Competencies
•Basic knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems.
•Proficiency in using plumbing, electrical, and carpentry tools.
•Ability to diagnose and perform minor repairs.
•Ability to read and follow technical instructions and equipment schematics.
•Understanding of hotel safety and risk prevention protocols.
•Strong communication and teamwork skills.
•Ability to adapt to a dynamic and fast-paced work environment.
Work Conditions
•Availability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
•Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds without assistance.
