The Engineering Supervisor reports to the Assistant Director of Engineering and will be responsible primarily for general maintenance and repairs in guest room, meeting space, and front of the house areas, as well as back of the house areas including kitchen, laundry, electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems. This includes interior, exterior preventative maintenance and driving our working order score. This person must be knowledgeable in HVAC, Refrigeration, Electrical, Kitchen Equipment, and Safety Training. This position will also champion and assist in directing preventive maintenance routines on all equipment and systems, using a windows-based computer system. Ability to read blue prints and schematics is preferred, along with basic trouble-shooting skills. A minimum of two years building maintenance experience is required with hotel experience preferred. Good communication skills are necessary. The Engineering Supervisor is to provide technical and administrative assistance to the property and to provide updates to the Assistant Director of Engineering on the daily operational aspects of the Engineering Department.
The Engineering Supervisor will respond to job assignments in repairing, installing, preventive maintenance as directed by the ADOE.
Essential Functions:- Advise immediate supervisor of conditions which might affect the operation of the Engineering Department.
- Become thoroughly familiar with hotel's emergency procedures and perform assigned duties per hotel and departmental procedures.
- Become familiar with current hotel conservation measures, ensure their compliance and make recommendations to supervisors on energy conservation improvements.
- Supervises distribution of repair work orders. Via coordination, oversight, and implementation of CMMS preventative maintenance programs for guestroom, public areas, mechanical equipment and safety systems to include all documentation and record keeping, and scheduling.
- Become thoroughly familiar with all phases of operation and maintenance necessary to operate and repair all refrigeration systems, laundry, and kitchen equipment.
- Directs and assists with all repairs, maintenance and replacement of parts for preventive maintenance schedule and accurately and neatly record all pertinent data.
- Continually assess the preventive maintenance schedule to ensure that equipment longevity, avoidance of repairs and down time, ease of operation and efficiency are all being maximized pursuant to manufacturing recommendations.
- Maintain tools and maintenance equipment along with department inventory as needed.
Supportive FunctionsIn addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the manager based upon the particular requirements of the hotel:
- Must be able to lead in the absence of DOE or ADOE
- Respond to guest complaints promptly and efficiently to avoid inconvenience or discomfort
- Assume responsibility for training lesser trained personnel in the operation and maintenance of all equipment/systems.
- Ensures compliance with all Engineering departmental policies, standards and procedures.
- Thorough understanding and monitoring of the hotel fire alarm system, emergency evacuation procedures, and disaster recovery.
- Focus on improving efficiency, profitability and service levels guiding colleagues to support and practice Hyatt's Culture of Care and Values.
Qualifications - Education: High school or equivalent education required.
- Experience: Must have minimum of four years hands-on experience working on major electrical, painting, plumbing, mechanical, HVAC, refrigeration, kitchen equipment, pumps and motors repairs.
- Licenses or Certificates: Ability to obtain and/or maintain any required licenses, certificates or permits. Both EPA and CPO Pool certifications are required within 12 months of new position.
- Must be able to work well with all members of the Engineering Department and all other members of the Hotel Staff.
- Good knowledge of HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical, chilled and condenser water components, boilers, Electrical distribution, plumbing and drainage systems, kitchen equipment, pumps, motors and mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with and past experience using HOTSOS and EMaint CMMS systems is preferred
- The ability to oversee, direct, coach and mentor colleagues in a constructive and positive environment.
- Must possess strong organizational and computer skills with a focus in Excel and Microsoft business suite.
- Assume responsibility for maintaining mechanical rooms and storage areas
- Must be able to work weekends/holidays/varying shift times, as business requires
- Requires 24-hour response availability seven days a week for emergency situations.
- The ability to multi-task large and small projects.
- The ability to work in a high paced environment.
