Description
Miraval is hiring an Equine Assistant to help provide horse care and ranch facilities maintenance; and support as needed during programming.
Typical daily duties include: feeding horses and caring for horses as requested, cleaning manure from pens, loading/unloading hay and feed; supporting facilitators with transportation of guests, changing horses as needed during programs, cleaning waters, and supporting the physical and emotional well-being of the horses, some grounds maintenance, and more.
We work closely as a team to provide a unique and welcoming environment, and to support our equine and human colleagues, as well as our guests. This position requires personal attributes such as: mindfulness, awareness of the energy you bring to all interactions with the horses and how this affects them; a willingness to be self-reflective with a spirit of continual personal and professional growth; positive attitude, strong work ethic; flexibility with regard to daily routines and schedule, weekend and holiday availability.

We will provide some training. You must have horse knowledge experience, and be safe and comfortable working with horses living out in a herd.
Qualifications
Duties, Responsibilities and Skills:
1. Assist Facilitators with guest programs in the Equine Department as requested, including group classes and private consultations as assigned. The willingness to perform these functions with cooperation, support of teammates, and flexibility to accommodate schedule changes.
2. Assist in all matters of care for the horses, equipment, and grounds as assigned. This includes, but is not limited to, things like feeding, grooming, manure cleanup and management, holding horses, vet and medical care, well-being and health checks, monitoring horses for vitality and good health, manure compost management. The ability to lift and maneuver 100 pound bales of hay, heavy equipment, and to work outdoors in sometimes harsh conditionsare all essential to this job. This is a physically demanding job
3. Knowledge and familiarity with horses and horse care are essential. Willingness to learn and follow protocol
4. Maintain complete confidentiality in all guest and program matters in accordance with Miraval policy.
5. Demonstrate mindfulness, emotional intelligence and agility, and a high tolerance for vulnerability in all interactions with guests and colleagues.
