Hyatt Vancouver Downtown Alberni is seeking a dedicated, passionate, and customer service-oriented Security Officer to join our team.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Provide technical expertise and practical application of hotel security and safety procedures.
• Perform tasks related to: Security and Access Control, and Occupational Health and Safety and First Aid Procedures.
• Conduct regular patrols during shifts covering the hotel spaces and public areas, per company standards.
• Prepare reports at the end of each shift, including log-book entries, general occurrence, fire alarm and medical reports.
• Respond to complaints from guests and patrons when called upon.
• Review CCTV footage and monitor cameras as required.
• Ensure compliance to all provincial and federal legislation, hotel policies, standards and core practices, diligently assist with inventory controls and safety programs.
• Adhere to Emergency Response Procedures, including a fire prevention program to established legal requirements.
• Perform special investigations as required.
• Perform tasks related to crowd control and perimeter security of the building footprint and various outlets.
• Maintain a close working relationship with all departments in the hotel.
• Maintain on-going communications with the Vancouver Police Department, RCMP VIP Section and any other security agencies and assists with special security arrangements for VIP visits when requested.
• Respond to accidents/incidents, providing First Aid to colleagues or guests, as required.
• Complete accident investigation paperwork, incident reports and first aid paperwork per WorkSafeBC requirements.
• Provide coverage to the Concierge Team on overnight shifts in the Residences.
• Responsible for access control to the hotel and our Residences.
• Ensure compliance to all provincial and federal legislation, hotel policies, standards and security core practices.
• Undertake other ad-hoc responsibilities, as required
Hourly wage is at $30.13.

Qualifications
• Minimum 2 years previous work experience in a Security Officer role in a luxury hotel environment is preferred
• Active possession of BC Security Workers License
• Valid Level 2 or 3 Occupational First Aid License
• Knowledge of Criminal Code and municipal by-laws
• Typing/Basic Computer skills (MS Word, Outlook)
• Conflict resolution skills and decision-making abilities
