Job Description
Director of Sales and Marketing
Responsible for all sales, marketing and merchandising efforts. Will provide both optimum profit returns and increased sales. To keep management aware of the overall sales and merchandising programs so all hotel activities will be integrated. To promote leadership to the Marketing staff and within the Executive Team. To ensure all hotel revenue goals are met and maintained.
What You'll Do:
Lead all sales and marketing efforts for the hotel, aligning strategy with revenue goals, brand standards, and operational capabilities.
Develop and execute the annual marketing plan, sales strategies, and budget to achieve occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, banquet revenue, and GOP targets.
Oversee and direct the daily activities of the Sales and Catering team, including account management, proposal development, forecasting, and staff performance.
Analyze market trends, competitive data, and performance metrics to refine pricing, positioning, and sales activities.
Collaborate with all departments to ensure seamless communication of group bookings, promotions, and guest needs.
Build strong relationships within the local community and industry networks to drive visibility and business opportunities.
Conduct regular training for front office and reservations staff on rooms merchandising and upselling strategies.
Maintain accurate records, sales reporting, expense tracking, and team performance reviews.
Participate in local events, trade shows, and community organizations to strengthen the hotel's presence and partnerships.
Ensure compliance with all Marriott and company policies, procedures, and service standards.
About You:
10+ years of experience in hotel sales and marketing, with at least 3 years in a leadership/management role.
Proven success in developing and implementing sales strategies that drive revenue and profitability.
Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent experience considered.
Strong knowledge of hotel operations, budgeting, forecasting, and marketing principles.
Skilled in CRM platforms, revenue management strategies, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
Results-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.
Must be familiar with Marriott brand standards and systems or have strong franchise/hotel group experience.
