Job Description For FLEX Director, AI Privacy and Governance
This is a temporary position.
Marriott is seeking a privacy and governance specialist with a strategic mindset and keen eye for detail to support the responsible and compliant use of AI. As part of the Business Intelligence organization, the Director of AI Privacy and Governance will promote and support a culture of ethics and compliance at Marriott. This role is a key member of a cross-functional team responsible for advancing the customer data privacy agenda. Key Responsibilities:
- Leading the AI Privacy and Governance Product: Partner with Legal, Technology, the Gen AI Studio, Data Governance, and business disciplines on various cross-functional efforts, including, but not limited to:
- Developing privacy-preserving frameworks, policies, and tools that address data quality, lineage, bias, sensitive data risk, and metadata standards for AI datasets, modeling, and customer-facing applications.
- Assisting with AI risk assessments and developing and maintaining AI inventories and catalogues in line with industry best practices and legal and regulatory requirements.
- Systematically validating compliance with AI regulations (e.g., AI GRC tooling).
- Educating and advocating for responsible AI use and privacy best practices.
- Leading change management efforts and promoting a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
- Developing and implementing key performance indicators to assess the impact of AI initiatives, ensuring ongoing monitoring of AI systems to maintain ethical standards and operational efficiency.
- Staying abreast of the latest trends, technologies, and rapidly evolving legal and regulatory landscape surrounding AI, privacy, and data governance.
- Support special projects and inquiries for Global Privacy needs.
- Collaborate with the Senior Director, Privacy on the Privacy roadmap.
Candidate Profile Required:
- 7+ years of professional experience with progressive growth.
- 3+ years in data privacy or protection (retail or hospitality preferred).
- IAPP Certification.
- Familiarity with privacy policies, principles, and tools.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Information Security, Business Administration, Law, or related field.
- Strong understanding of generative AI technologies and their data dependencies.
- Experience with data governance and privacy tools (e.g., Atlan, OneTrust).
- Proven leadership across functional organizations.
- Strong communication and executive presentation skills.
- Project management expertise.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of AI explainability and auditing tools.
- Knowledge of digital personalization practices.
- Experience with differential privacy or federated learning.
- AIGP, CDPSE Certification (or similar).
- Management consulting experience.
Core Work Activities Gen AI Governance Product Owner:
- Lead the AI Privacy and Governance Product within Business Intelligence.
- Drive strategy for responsible AI development and implementation.
- Evaluate and improve governance and privacy tools and processes.
- Develop success metrics and dashboards.
- Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders.
- Provide subject matter expertise on responsible AI practices, privacy, and governance.
Privacy Support, Special Projects & Inquiries:
- In partnership with the Global Privacy Office, operationalize global and regional AI privacy laws (e.g., Colorado AI Act, EU AI Act).
- Support regulatory responses and remediation efforts.
- Assist with budget processes and leadership reporting.
- Contribute to privacy training and awareness.
The pay range for this position is $60.38 to $96.44 per hour.
