Primland, Auberge Resorts Collection Debuts Laurel Bar and New Aerial Adventure Experiences
Primland is elevating the summer season with fresh culinary experiences led by a new executive chef and an exhilarating ropes course for thrill-seekers.

Meadows of Dan, VA – Primland, Auberge Resorts Collection, is delighted to unveil the latest enhancements of its property-wide refresh with the debut of Laurel Bar, a new on-site dining venue, and an exhilarating guided Aerial Adventures course. These latest additions to the 12,000-acre private mountain estate reflect Primland’s ongoing commitment to providing world-class experiences that blend luxury and adventure with the natural beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Located just steps from the highly acclaimed Highland Course at Primland, Laurel Bar joins the property’s signature restaurant Leatherflower, which debuted in 2024, ushering in a new era of culinary experiences. With interiors by Dallas-based architect and designer Chad Dorsey, Laurel Bar is the perfect gathering place to recharge in between outdoor excursions or toast the day's adventures with a signature Southern Old Fashioned in hand. Boasting an inviting indoor dining room and bar as well as an expansive outdoor terrace, the space exudes timeless elegance, featuring delicately suspended bouquets of dried flowers foraged on-property – including branches of its namesake Laurel – and a custom hyde mural by Kyle Bunting mounted above the well-stocked bar. The interiors feature a rich palette: buttery-soft Moore & Giles leather in saturated tones line the banquettes, paired with quilted fabrics that reference the storied textile traditions of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Nuage quartzite tabletops and a bold Blue Roma quartzite bar counter top, complemented by handblown glass and wood lighting, bring a natural warmth to the space. Lastly, the bar seating, thoughtfully raised to counter height, invites guests to take in uninterrupted views over the terrace to reveal sweeping ridgeline views.
Laurel Bar’s menu is led by newly appointed Executive Chef Sean Maloney and highlights his passions for wood-fired cooking and storytelling through local ingredients. Maloney joins Primland from Utah’s The Lodge at Blue Sky, Auberge Resorts Collection, and brings a rich culinary background shaped by his Cuban and Irish roots. Guests can expect elevated clubhouse fare with a southern twist featuring country ham and bean soup, pig candy deviled eggs, rainbow trout and smoked Joyce Farm chicken wings. End the meal on a sweet note with a slice of maple cake or a nightcap of Primitive Espresso Martinis featuring local espresso beans.
By day, conquer Primland's treetops with the resort’s Aerial Adventures Course — a new outdoor guided ropes course designed to challenge guests of all skill-levels. Experience the excitement of navigating 18 exhilarating elements, including two tree houses, two rappel exits and four Tyrolean traverses. Available from April through November, the course offers easy, medium, and hard routes for guests aged 8 and up, making it an ideal outdoor adventure for families and thrill-seekers alike.
With its ever-evolving offerings, Primland continues to be a premier destination for those seeking elevated hospitality, breathtaking natural beauty, and now – new culinary and aerial thrills. Whether relaxing with a handcrafted cocktail at Laurel Bar or soaring through the treetops, guests will find unforgettable moments waiting around every corner. Laurel Bar is open for lunch and dinner, with lunch service from 11AM –5PM daily and dinner from 5PM - 10PM on weekdays and 11PM on weekends.
