If you're traveling to NYC soon, ensure to visit Bungalow on 24th Street. You might have a chance to personally visit the kindest soul in the world who spreads smiles and feeds with love.
Located at 24 First Avenue, near East Second Street in the bustling heart of New York City, Bungalow has quickly become a global sensation, drawing food enthusiasts from far and wide. Despite the rain, crowds gathered in droves on opening day to experience the culinary mastery of internationally renowned Celebrity Chef Vikas Khanna. Launching his latest venture on March 23, 2024, coinciding with his sister's 50th birthday, Vikas Khanna has crafted Bungalow into a gastronomic haven where discerning palates can savour his expertly curated cuisine.
Vikas Khanna, a Michelin Star chef and the host of MasterChef India, lost his sister Radhika two years ago, but her memory lives on within him. In honour of her 50th birthday, Vikas launched Bungalow, fulfilling his sister's dream of creating a restaurant that embodies community and cultural celebration.
Inside the Bungalow's spacious interior, which accommodates up to 100 for dinner and 25 at the bar, patrons are treated to a fusion of home-cooked flavours and street food inspirations from regions across India, spanning from the Kashmir Valley to Tamil Nadu in the South.
Bungalow is more than just a culinary venture for Vikas Khanna; it's a heartfelt tribute to his roots and heritage. A week before its grand opening, Vikas organized a mesmerizing prayer dance to honor the land upon which the Bungalow stands, incorporating ancient rituals and performances by Surati for Performing Arts.
Beyond his culinary endeavours, Vikas Khanna is a multi-talented individual who wears many hats: chef, restaurateur, cookbook writer, filmmaker, and humanitarian. Despite being based in New York City, his heart remains deeply connected to his homeland, where he finds solace in visiting temples and engaging in humanitarian activities.
Vikas Khanna's love for his mother transcends words. The adage that "everything is possible with a mother's blessings" finds resonance in Vikas Khanna's deep connection with his mother, a bond that speaks volumes about the power of maternal influence.
On the day of the Bungalow's opening, Vikas Khanna expressed his gratitude on social media, thanking the more than 1000 people who braved the rain and freezing temperatures to celebrate with him. He personally greeted and served each guest, embodying the kindness and generosity that define his character.
We eagerly anticipate our next trip to NYC, where we can delight in the culinary offerings of Bungalow and savour its diverse flavours.
