Riviera Nayarit Announces Tourism Wellness and Best Practices Guide
The CVB is elevating the Mexican beach destination’s health and sanitation standards in preparation for the anticipated Summer reopening

RIVIERA NAYARIT, NAYARIT, MXICO (May 19, 2020) - The Riviera Nayarit Convention Visitors Bureau has unveiled aTourism Wellness and Best Practices Guidethat outlines the new standard of sanitation and safety protocols delineated by established international health organizations and the worlds leading nations to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission in time for the destinations anticipated reopening later this summer, pending official date from state and federal authorities.
"Over the last 13 years, Riviera Nayarit's eclectic, ever-evolving offering has raised the standard in Mexican hospitality," said Marc Murphy, managing director for the Riviera Nayarit CVB. "Our ability to adapt and reach new heights is what attracts top tier brands and world-class travelers to the region. The CVB is ready to support our destination partners to once again rise to the challenge and elevate Riviera Nayarit's safety and sanitation standards that will allow us to be ready to welcome travelers back to Mexicos Pacific treasure.
Riviera Nayarits Tourism Wellness and Best Practices Guideis meant to serve as a resource for local establishments seeking guidance on what the new industry standards are and how to best be prepared for when travel resumes. The guide indicates traveler and employee expectations; best practices and sanitation protocols specific to hotels, restaurants, airports, tour operators and spas; proper health screenings; credible resources and certification programs; and more.
While some of the recommendations might evolve in the coming weeks when Mexicos Ministry of Health is expected to announce new federally mandated protocols, the CVB is providing destination partners timely guidelines that meet the new industry standards from around the world. The guide is a compilation of sanitation protocols set by the World Health Organization (WHO), the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, various nations including the United States, Canada, Singapore and New Zealand, as well as major hotel brands.
Although not mandatory, hotels and establishments are encouraged to implement the best practices outlined in the guidelines to regain consumer trust and elevate the regions safety and sanitation standards.
Riviera Nayarit will continue to work closely with the local and federal Mexican Government in preparation for the summer reopening of its tourism sector.
